Favorite use of pink: Thats a hard one, since everything I have seems to be pink…but I’ll say my website and hair :)

Why you got involved: In this past year two of my friends, both who are under the age of 35, were diagnosed with breast cancer. They both have had to have double mastectomies and are currently under going treatment. As a friend I feel helpless in so many ways to help. While I have always been a strong advocate for women’s issues, the pink initiative is giving me an opportunity to do my part! Because of this as of May 1, 2009, as a company we made the decision to donate 10% of the package price of every wedding booked to the pink initiative!

Thank you for your recent donation of $160, Kelly!

The stationery genius’ behind Invitation Consultants, Allison and Ollivier, have designed three bridal shower invitations to benefit Pink Initiative. What an incredible step to spread our message and help fund a cure for breast cancer. Thank you, thank you for your creative thoughtfulness!

Favorite use of pink: pink peonies

Why you got involved: My mother passed away from cancer 5 years ago and while it was not breast related, cancer is an illness that will affect all of us one way or another and I became involved in the Pink Initiative to increase awareness through my blog for those who have also lost a loved one by cancer. Cancer runs in my family and I want to do everything in my power to make sure that by the time my daughter is grown, we have found a cure for this disease. My great aunt was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer 20 years ago and she is still alive, she was one of those rare cases who beat it and I strongly believe that with our current technology and the power of medicine and research, we can ensure that moving forward more people become a success story versus a statistic.

Thank you, Michelle, for your recent donation of $50.00.

Business Name: Aleximani Events, owner
Location: Copiague, NY
Favorite use of pink: The Pink Intiative logo is proudly displayed on my blog, my website and Facebook page.

Why I got involved: I got involved with the Pink Initiative because when I think about the fact that we are in 2009 and have not found a cure for this very invasive and ravaging disease, I know that something has to be done. We have to be at the brink on a cure. Just this year alone I have two friends who are dealing with cancer in their moms. Last year another friend lost her mother and I could make a list of people near and far affected by this decease. I am not a doctor or scientist but if in a small way I could help to drive the cure for this non discriminating decease then I will do it. I have decided that as I live my life I want everything that I do to be in purpose, and what greater purpose than using my gifts to help find a cure. For my daughters , for my grandchildren and for all of those who did not see their dreams come true. I have a favorite song that sums it up, “If I could touch somebody as I go my way, then my living will not be in vain. I plan to host a bridal expo in the future and donate part of the proceeds to The Pink Initiative.

To recognize the amazing talent and generosity of our vendor sponsors, we will be featuring a weekly vendor sponsor spotlight. Our first is photographer Robert Christopher.

Favorite use of pink: My pink Ralph Lauren oxford

Why I got involved: When I am not a photographer, I instruct college students on the need and purpose of civic engagement (which is the duty of people in a society to participate actively in addressing public concerns). Breast cancer affects thousands of individuals yearly. I would be remissed if as a person and as a business owner I did not do my part to help fund the education or research of such a devastating disease.

When Emilie ran her Campaign for Change raffle to benefit Pink Initiative last month, the board was thrilled with the vendor sponsor support it generated! We issued our first e-newsletter today, complete with the details necessary for vendor sponsors to get started raising money for Pink Initiative within their own businesses. If you have not yet signed up to be a part of our group, you may do so by clicking here, and be sure to sign up for future e-newsletters, too, by clicking here.
